Brief History of the Church (how we started)

"The Victory Center International Church, Inc. was founded by Rev. Odysseus N. Gbor and aided by other ministers of the Gospel. This great commission was birthed out of a felt need for the salvation and the deliverance of "Lost Souls" from the ignorance to the truth of God's word, the power of sin, bondage of satanic oppression and poverty. This became a burden on the heart of Rev. Odysseus N. Gbor for his people in Liberia. However, he didn't know how to start until the Lord spoke to him in a dream in 2001. In this dream, he saw three men appeared to him and said "THE LORD HAS A WORD FOR YOU IN MONROVIA"

After many days of prayers and consultations, the vision became clear as men of God began calling on him to serve in Monrovia and his desire to continue his schooling in Monrovia became stronger.

Finally, July 21-24, 2002, Rev. Gbor along with his team entered into three days fast and prayers as preparation seeking God's guidance and directions. After this time of fast and prayers, the Lord gave them a breakthrough and strength. On July 27, 2002, they arrived in Paynesville City in Montserrado County from Nimba County and settled in Duport Road, where we are presently.

Duport Road is a former Negroes Settlement and is located in Paynesville City, the Northern Suburb of the Nation's Capital and a commerical city with most of its population earning their living through petty trading. This community in Monrovia is highly populated with gang groups, pagans and immoralities among others.

With this community in mind, we began the mission on July 28, 2002 with about four persons in our first fellowship in attendance. While we were in the process of constructing our worship center, we started worshiping in an old building that was rented at the cost of $200.00USD as monthly rent payment. This amount was problem to afford and through the grace of God, many volunteers join our outreach team. As the result, the fellowship increased graduallly as you can see in present day.

As the Lord began to confirm His words with signs, wonders and deliverance in the community of Duport Road, this caused many people to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Savior, thereby turning from their pagan practices, gangster lives and several immoralities. We began to receive oppositions most especially when the Lord miraculously provided the Mission two lots of land, which was in 2004 where our worship center is now presently. On several occaisons, the Mission received rates of injunction and arrest orders from the higher court of the land, Liberia. Yet the Lord prevailed over the enemy after he has tested the work and failed. Therefore, after all these battles and confirmations, His word and His call upon our lives, in the community of Duport Road, the community dwellers started calling the Mission "Victory Center" instead of "Word of Life".

With much prayer and conviction, after the Mission's six years of existence amidst all manner of trials and temptations, the leadership and congregation on the 28th of July, 2008 unanimously agreed and renamed the Mission "Victory Center International Church". The International ministries spirit became our focus since we believe that thiss powerful Gospel must reach out to all races and nations of the world through this unstoppable mission."
