I was born on April 3, 1975 in one of the smallest remote
villages in Liberia called Gbapa in Nimba County. I am the second of two boys
from our mother, Serena Gbor and our father, Sylvester S.A. Gbor. My oldest brother,
Emmanuel S. Gbor was two years old and I was two months old when our mother,
Serena died. She died from medical complication. After her death my struggle
began as there was no one like my mother again in my life in shouldering my
responsibilities. Though, my father is still alive, but he was not able to
shoulder my responsibilities. However, my grandmother may her soul rest in perpetual
peace, managed to raise me up as her grand-child.
At age of 12 years in 1987, my paternal Aunty decided to
help me for my education aspect. In this direction, I immediately enrolled at
the Karnplay High School in Nimba County, Liberia. I completed my primary
education in this school at the age 16 years in 1992. With the interruption of
the civil crisis in Liberia, I completed my Junior High Schooling in St. Mary
High School in Sanniquillie, Nimba, Liberia in 1996. Similarly, I completed my
Secondary Education in Rock Christian Academy, Paynesville, Liberia at the age
of 28 years in the year A.D. 2003.
In 1998, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and
Savior and was baptized on April 3, 1998. With the excitement and joy in my
heart for my newly found faith, I went everywhere sharing my encounter with my
family and friends. Moreover, I involved myself with the local church called
Jubilee Praise and Worship Center through which I got saved.
In 2001, I enrolled at the Monrovia Bible Training Center in
Monrovia, where I obtained my Certificate in Pastoral Training. In 2002, upon
the completion of my Pastoral study, I started Word of Life now called Victory
Center International Church, Inc. In pursuance of my pastoral career, I also
enrolled at the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004 and obtained my
Bachelor of Theology in 2007.
Subsequently, in 2008, I was Ordained as Pastor/Minister of
the Gospel by Bishop/Dr. Richard West of the Liberty Christian Center from
Fairfield, California, USA and was witnessed by Bishop John Allan Klayee of the
Jubilee Praise and Worship Center, Monrovia, Liberia. Furthermore, in 2013, I
was also ordained as an Apostle by Apostle/Dr. Steve Deitz from the International Fellowship of
Ministries from North Carolina, USA.
In 2006, I got married to Pastor. Laurina K. Gbor (Mrs.) one
of the graduates of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary. Our union is
blessed with three children; two girls and one boy: Odysseus N. Gbor, Jr. –
age: 9 yrs., Joy Gbor – age: 5 yrs and Amazing Gbor – age: 2 yrs with two
step-children: Neal Bartuah – age: 22 yrs and Barcus Finndor – age: 17yrs,
respectively.
I am presently the Senior Pastor and founder of Victory
Center International Church, Inc. I am also the Proprietor of The Victory
Christian Institute. In addition, I am the founder of Orphan Care-Liberia.
Finally, I am a member and one of the leaders of the International Fellowship
of Ministries-Liberia Chapter.
